I've never been wholly convinced that Link *isn't* a girl, to be honest. His features are somewhat feminine, his voice is fairly androgynous, and it would explain the apparent ambiguity in his relationship with Zelda.
Regardless, excellent concept painting, thank you for this.
Haha awesome. Surprisingly many people still fall for that joke, resulting in the most funny discussions (I have some experience with that.. www.theshirtlist.com/what-if-z…. But it would be really cool if they made your female "Zelda" an option to choose at the beginning of the game... I WANNA SAVE PRINCE LINK.
Having your sword strapped by your waist would actually be far effective and actually practical than to strap it to your back; you can't draw a sword from your back, especially the Master Sword that Link has as it goes down past his back. That would prove very difficult to pull out. Though, I'm not saying it would be impossible to draw a sword from the back because you could if you held the bottom end of the scabbard and then drew out the sword or if you had a much shorter sword.
I have to say that her shield is too small, and it appears to be one of those strap-on shields. From one particular source, strap-on shields are useless for individual fighting. They can do well in formation, especially when you look at bigger shields like the Greek Hoplite's Hoplon, but if you're the time of adventurer that Link is, then you might want a shield with a center grip. You can punch with it, block low blows and if it were slightly bigger than the shield here, you could blind your opponent with it.
They start a bit lower than the shoulder and end right over the elbow (just like in the pic) and they are somehow magically attached to the arm. Maybe you should just make them kinda like the ones of Reimu (that Touhou character)
